Due to continued growth and expansion, Magnetic Shields are now currently recruiting motivated forward thinking quality people to join our Inspection team. Our new factory unit is due to be completed soon which means several new roles are now available for the right applicants. Magnetic Shields Limited have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our production team as Senior Quality Technician 

We are leading specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke magnetically shielded rooms, and have an expanding customer base throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Asia. With a full manufacturing facility in Staplehurst, Kent, fully equipped with the latest technology we are able to provide our customers with the highest level of service and quality. All of our manufacturing processes, including heat treatment, are integrated in our production plant. 

As part of this exciting new chapter in Magnetic Shields progression we are currently looking for a Senior Quality Technician to join the team and become part of our professional, industry leading company

This is a hands-on role that would suit an someone with a background in quality control wishing to progress their quality career in process improvement within a manufacturing environment. We produce many bespoke items to meet customers criteria and pride ourselves with being able to adapt to the changing market and provide high quality, complex shielding solutions for emerging applications. Within this role the successful candidate will be responsible for & ensuring all aspects of day-to-day inspection team are met, along with defining and implementation of continual improvement targets within the quality department.

 

Key Tasks/Duties of this role:

  • Final inspection of sheet metal & machined components to drawings manufactured in our engineering plant.
  • Inspection of incoming raw materials and sub-contract operations
  • In-process inspection of parts
  • Record control handling
  • Calibration of measuring equipment and ensuring the calibration system conforms to Standards
  • Creation of key dimensional reports, FAI reports, CofA, etc.
  • Raising internal and external non-conformance investigations
  • Responsible for subsequent corrective and preventative actions of non-conformance
  • Assisting with ISO 9001 management system duties
  • Meeting production deadlines for orders
  • Ensuring suppliers meet quality expectations
  • Co-ordinating and leading the Quality Technicians to ensure all materials / products are inspected throughout the manufacturing processes to meet relevant deadlines
  • Liaising with the Senior Quality Engineer, Production Manager & Workshop Manager ensuring production schedules are met

 

Essential skills:

  • Experience of managing quality targets and achieving goals
  • Experience of fine limit sheet metal inspection
  • Experience using manual measuring techniques, including using hand tools such as vernier, callipers & micrometres
  • Experience of raising non-conformance reports and conducting subsequent investigations/actions
  • Experience of FAI & report writing
  • A good understanding of reading engineering drawings, projections and tolerances
  • Experience of working within a quality management standard (minimum to ISO 9001)
  • Good communication skills, must be able to relay information internally & externally
  • Strong organisational skills with an attention to detail and a focused approach to work
  • Proficient in IT skills and use of ERP systems
  • Team player possessing good inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate to staff at all levels

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of CMM
  • Experience of hardness and tensile testing
  • Experience of using Process Flow & FMEA Processes
  • Experience of fine limit sheet metal inspection
