Key Tasks/Duties of the Role
- Helping production with technical assistance and problem-solving solutions
- Helping to source and justify new machinery, aiding in the implementation into production and then monitoring the output as directed by the Manufacturing Process Engineer
- Assisting with the review and improvement of production processes using Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods
- Working closely with all departments on relevant improvement projects
- Liasing with the Engineering/ Design departments and Workshop Manager to assist with the review of new products before they are released to production
- Working with the Sales department to produce accurate production routings and aid the Quality department with the creation of accurate manufacturing documentation
Essential Skills
- Minimum Bachelors degree qualification in relevant engineering field
- 1-2 years transferable experience wihin a manufacturing environment (experience in introducing or working with the introduction of new processes and products)
- Excellent communication skills - able to work with both staff and management levels
- Pro-active hands-on problem solver
- Good project management skills, organising and planning proficient
- Highly IT proficient, must be experienced in Excel, Word and the use of MRP systems
- Experience of creating manufacturing documentation, i.e.: SOP's
Desirable Skills
- Experience in sheet metal or deep drawing processes
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing methods
- Experience of low-mid volume batch manufacturing
- Experience in sourcing and justifying capital equipment
- Experience in trouble-shooting technical process issues relating to internal/ external quality concerns
- Experience of working within ISO9001 quality systems, 5S or Six Sigma
