Degaussing

For ultra-low field environments, MuMetal demagnetisation, known as degaussing, is required.

Description

MSL provide degaussing units for MuRooms and any bespoke shields to achieve residual fields of 2nT and below. MuMetal has a remnant magnetisation of 30nT, so magnetic field environments of less than 30nT are not possible without degaussing.

Shielding Applications

Degaussing is the process of decreasing or eliminating a remnant magnetic field and it can be applied to almost any shield. Typical shielding applications include:
