About the Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will handle a variety of tasks, including diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical issues, performing routine preventative maintenance, and ensuring the smooth operation of machinery such as presses and furnaces. You'll also contribute to site services, liaise with suppliers, and support continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to safety standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

Includes (but not limited to):
  • Diagnosing and resolving both electrical and mechanical issues promptly.
  • Carrying out regular maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, water treatment, and filter replacements, ensuring compliance with regulations and minimising downtime.
  • Maintaining and repairing on-site machinery, including deep-drawing presses, hydrogen atmosphere retort furnaces, and vacuum furnaces.
  • Identifying and addressing faults as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of essential site services, such as fire safety systems, water supply, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Ordering and managing maintenance stock and spare parts as required.
  • Coordinating with suppliers to address maintenance requirements.
  • Following all health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures while carrying out tasks.
  • Supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing site efficiency and productivity.
  • Documenting procedures and completing all required maintenance paperwork.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years relevant experience from within a transferable environment with proven track record in industry repairing / maintaining equipment, fault finding & repairs
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC or HNC BTEC, etc
  • Experience of pneumatic operated presses
  • Experience of pumps/motors/compressors
  • Strong H&S awareness and experience
  • IT proficient (experience of Excel/Word) with experience of using bespoke maintenance IT packages
